The Uxbridge Road Pedestrian Perception Survey closes in TWO DAYS. This is your last chance to comment on pedestrian experience and safety along a crucial road throughout the entire borough of Ealing (and beyond).

Your views are essential in helping the council prioritise future spending along the road. Your input could contribute to making the Uxbridge Road a more pleasant and enjoyable space for pedestrians to travel along and across.

Massive thank you to the University of West London for letting us set up a stall allowing us to bring the Uxbridge Road Pedestrian Survey to you.

We had a constant stream of students and staff coming up to us and getting involved, filling out surveys and having conversations about their experiences along Uxbridge Road. We estimate we had approximately 90-110 respondents during the event, and the photo demonstrates the energy around the stall, with groups of students and staff filling out the surveys at the same time.

This survey clearly addresses a pressing issue and we were very glad to be there to capture this valuable data. The survey closes on November 12th so make sure you spread the word to all!

On Thursday 7th October, Sustrans will be delivering the fifth and final engagement event for the Uxbridge Road Pedestrian Survey.

Out of all of the people who have responded to the survey so far, we have noted that there is a slight under representation of views of younger adults. To counter this, we will be going to the University of West London to bring the survey to their students and staff. This is a great opportunity for everyone at U.W.L. to offer their views on how to make Uxbridge Road a safer and more pleasant place for pedestrians to travel along or across.

Whilst at U.W.L. Sustrans will run a stall in the St. Mary’s Road building from 11-2, so come down if you are in the area; we would love to meet you and hear what you have to say! We will also be sharing information about how students can get involved in some of the wide range of work that Sustrans has to offer, so there will be something for everyone.

After the U.W.L. stall, Sustrans will take the survey to local businesses along the Uxbridge Road to offer them an opportunity to share their knowledge and experience of being a pedestrian in the area. See you tomorrow!

This consultation will close to comments on Sunday November 11th so please encourage everyone in the area to add their comments.

On a recent Saturday, Xan and Becca from Sustrans were on King Street market, asking Acton’s local residents, shoppers, business owners and many more, their opinions on the Uxbridge Road. They distributed leaflets as well as interviewed passers-by and stall owners, completing surveys to capture local opinions on what the issues relating to safety were on the Uxbridge Road, and what measures should be taken to deal with these.

The data captured, along with that of the 3 other pop-ups along the Uxbridge Road and online respondents, will be invaluable in understanding what the main safety issues are and what interventions are required to fix them. This survey gives local people the chance to have their say and help the council prioritise spending and ensure the needs of residents are met.

We recently had a great day promoting the 'What is it like to walk down Uxbridge Road' survey in Southall. We started at Southall Day Centre, a wonderful venue designed for older people from Asian communities. We had a captive audience of over 40 people as we introduced ourselves, our work and the purpose behind the survey. We then quickly received a huge amount of responses about Uxbridge Road, which was exactly what we were after.

Once we finished here, we delivered a roaming pop up along The Broadway, inviting the lunchtime crowds to fill out the survey on our tablets. After this we were able to run an after school event at the brilliant Tudor Primary School, and captured a range of views from parents and children on a sunny afternoon during the school run.

Here is a report on our recent pop-up in Hanwell.

To promote the launch of the 'What is it like to walk along or across Uxbridge Road' survey, Sustrans staff took to the streets of Hanwell a couple of weeks ago to deliver roaming pop up events in the area. We started with the lunchtime crowd at Hanwell Clock Tower, informing people about the study and providing tablets for participants to give their views. After this we ran a stall during the school pick up outside St Josephs Primary School, ensuring parents, carers and staff were aware of this survey and able to comment. Finally, we capitalised on the evening rush hour crowds outside Hanwell Station, with a range of respondents providing comments on an issue that affects all commuters in the area.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey, and a special thanks to Mr. Cassidy and the reception staff of St Josephs for working with us to plan our pop up!
