Uxbridge Road Pedestrian Safety - Report on the Perception Survey

A massive thank you to all that contributed to the Uxbridge Road Pedestrian Perception Survey – we’ve worked hard in putting together our findings.. Here is the report!

Your participation was crucial in gathering information to ensure a wide range of views and perspectives were heard. As well as the online survey, we came to you over the course of 10 events late last year. In total, a staggering 1411 contributions were made to the consultation from 392 different respondents. Almost half of these were through on-street surveys!

To make this project accessible, we translated our surveys and communication materials when needed to ensure a broad range of respondents.

Overall, suggestions for improving Uxbridge Road were met with high levels of public support.

  • The majority of people agreed there should be improvements made with regards to accessibility, air pollution and cycle facilities.
  • 56% of respondents usually walk in or around the area and 19% usually cycle, making improving cycle and pedestrian experiences along this route a key strategy.
  • The findings will now be used to consider how to make Uxbridge Road a safer, cleaner and more pleasant environment for people from all walks of life.

At Acton tomorrow! and a report from Hanwell pop-up

We will be running another pop up in Acton Town Centre this Saturday 13th October to encourage and enable residents to respond this survey. We will be there during lunchtime and we would love to hear from as many people as possible. Come down if you are in the area! And please use the sharing buttons below to pass this on to your social media contacts.

Here is a report on our recent pop-up in Hanwell.

To promote the launch of the 'What is it like to walk along or across Uxbridge Road' survey, Sustrans staff took to the streets of Hanwell a couple of weeks ago to deliver roaming pop up events in the area. We started with the lunchtime crowd at Hanwell Clock Tower, informing people about the study and providing tablets for participants to give their views. After this we ran a stall during the school pick up outside St Josephs Primary School, ensuring parents, carers and staff were aware of this survey and able to comment. Finally, we capitalised on the evening rush hour crowds outside Hanwell Station, with a range of respondents providing comments on an issue that affects all commuters in the area.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey, and a special thanks to Mr. Cassidy and the reception staff of St Josephs for working with us to plan our pop up! The next one is on Saturday 13th October at Acton Town Centre - please spread the word by clicking on the social media sharing buttons below.
